Born in Paris, Julien Martinez Leclerc is a portrait and fashion photographer based in London. Julien’s deep ambitition is to deliver crafted pictures that are both personal and innovative.
Julien is a self-described perfectionist, he always has been. Son of an art dealer, who strongly participated in educating his eye for paintings and drawings, Julien was always creative, but he first picked up a camera aged 13 on a trip with his parents…”this just felt easy”.

Graduating from London College of Communication in 2017, he signed with Mini Title agency and has since produced memorable editorials for a dazzling array of titles including Vogue Italia, Arena Homme+, Pop Magazine, Luncheon Magazine, Dazed, AnOther Magazine, Another Man, Buffalo Zine, and L’Uomo Vogue, as well as commercial projects for Helmut Lang, Hermès and Bottega Veneta.
His early work was as unafraid of the grotesque as it was of elegance,“I was always confident enough in my ideas not to want to be anybody else, which is probably why they don’t seem to fit in with todays trend”.
He has an imaginative and often dramatic visual style, with rich geometric black-and-white compositions and a knowing nod to some of the greats of the medium, including the otherworldly, wide-angled distortion of Bill Brandt, the characters of Josef Koudelka and the studio craft of Richard Avedon.
His fascination for staging and theater is translated by the use of dramatic lights and a habit to transform the subjects he photographs. Fascinated by fictional litterary characters, he has introduced realism and a psychological perspective to his photographs.
